CLNW Jon Lexau Memorial drive
CLNW is planning on having a Lotus drive out to Columbia Hills Historical State Park for Jon Lexau’s memorial on Sat. April 29.
Initial meet is at Love’s Truck Stop, Frontage Road and Graham, just off the Troutdale I-84 exit at 10:00am. We’ll caravan on I-84 to Jon’s memorial east of the Dalles. The actual memorial site is Columbia Hills Historical State Park on the Washington side. Highway 14 on the WA side would be a more scenic drive, but there is severe road damage to Hwy 14.
Please respond to Dave Miller, CLNW Co-President, at davemarylee@msn.com, if you’re planning on going.
From Jane Fouts, Jon’s mother,
“Dear Lotus Club friends
Jenna and I are planning on spending the last week of April in the Portland area in memory of Jon Karl Lexau.
We are all that is left of Jon’s biological family. Since Jon moved to the west coast, I have always considered you folks – who have lived, worked and played alongside him – to be his family. We have met some of you over the years; others we have only heard about.
All of you know the nature of his work ethic. But occasionally, he did take a day off. If the wind was just right and he could leave the chip that was already 3 months overdue, he would sneak off and windsurf on the Columbia River, just east of The Dalles, at Columbia Hills Historical State Park in Washington. It is our intent to release his ashes into the Columbia River, so he can play, on Saturday, April the 29th at about noon.
After a day of windsurfing, Jon would always stop off at Hood River for pizza before returning home to his computer
We would be delighted to have any of you that could make it to the Portland area join us either at the State Park and /or Pietro’s Pizza, 107 2nd St, Hood River, OR, to honor and remember Jon.
When Jon could not miss a whole day of work to go windsurfing, he might take a short trip to the Portland Japanese Garden instead, for one of their workshops or a plant sale. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his memory. https://store.Japanesegarden. com/MakeDonation.aspx?skuid= 1006657.”
